99 C5 Damn door serial bus cable
1. Is it supposed to be wrapped in this tape?
2. Is it supposed to have only that 2 inches of tubing before the bus connector?
3. Has anyone taken this to a dealer and had that whole length of wire replaced with an actual coated wire instead of the bare wire with tube crap?

I do not think that you actually have a SERIAL DATA BUSS WIRE ISSUE. You "could" but the most likely cause of your problem is the six wire connector FEMALE pins are spread apart and make poor connections!!!. That causes a poor connection between the MALE and FEMALE pins. Most of those pins are power related. When they make a poor connection,,, the LDCM or the RDCM or BOTH, power or ground wires make and break connection which causes the module/s to turn on and off rapidly. That causes the module to put noise on the serial data buss and corrupt the serial data buss flow of information and the BCM spazzes out. That's what causes the IPC gages to whack out.
The bare wire is nothing more than a SPEAKER Shield wire and actually has nothing to do with the issue.
The ONLY way to get to the bottom of the issue is to do a PIN PULL TEST and find out what pins are spread apart and are causing the issue. Fix or replace the pins or replace the connector.
PIN PULL TEST Obtain a new male pin that is the exact same size as the connector male pins,,, Insert it into the female pin. It should have a nice firm insertion and retraction drag. If it goes in and out and there is little or no drag,,, THERES YOUR PROBLEM!

Not correct.
There is a connector that has the serial bus and other circuits to provide the door control functions and another one just for the Bose speakers.
The bare wire with tubing is in the Bose circuits and runs through that other connector.

I must have missed that part in your previous posts. Codes may still be helpful.
