Default Help diagnose clutch issue

So driving home one day my clutch pedal didn't feel right,it got hard and then it felt like a spring broke and my clutch would not disengage, as I was pulling over to the side of the road messing with the pedal it all went back to normal. Now when I drive my car as long as I don't give it a lot of throttle it's fine, but if I try to accelerate faster than normal driving my clutch doesn't want to release. I'm thinking throw out bearing but I'm not sure. I have the tick master cylinder already so I don't think that's the problem. Any of you gurus have an idea. In summery if I drive careful it's fine,as soon as I give it any extra throttle the clutch doesn't want to release.

The tick master a few years. The clutch is a spec 2 that's been there a long time, maybe 8-9 yrs, I was being cheap after driving my car down to A&A and having a S/C installed, when I got home my clutch was slipping so I called Andy at A&A and he said he had a newsed spec he could sell me,not sure how used it was but it held my 575+ rwhp for that long, the clutch is still holding fine, but if I have to go in for a hydraulic issue I'll install a new clutch. I hope it's not the tick master,I'm thinking/hoping it's not,it seems fine as long as I don't get on it..

Kind of hard to tell without having it in front of me, but I'm thinking throw out bearing or pressure plate issue. What does your fluid look like?

I try to keep it clean so I change it out all the time. I'm thinking throw out bearing myself, maybe the pressure plate also. Thanks for what you were thinking,it kinda confirms what I was thinking also, although I am by no means a expert at all, just good to hear someone is thinking kinda on the same thought as myself. I should have just tore it apart but just wasn't in the mood, and now it's time for me to go back to the boat,I'll tackle this in a couple months when I get home again.

I had the same problem..

Mine was a bubble in the Hydraulic T.O. Bearing.

Drove me nuts until I found that the Rubber Boot in the master Cylinder was plugged and fluid was not draining into the reservoir.

Look for the C5 clutch vac bleed post, worked

No, I should post this one.

I'll tell you this, the weirdest clutch issue ever.

It's worth a try.

Look for the post that is about Clutch Bleeding. You use a large rubber sink stopper and connect it to your Vac hand pump. Then suck out all the fluid you can, I used a new Turkey Baster. refill and pull a vac on the clutch master cylinder. I also had a friend slowly, I do mean slowly depress and release the clutch pedal. his worked out the bubble.

I bought my C5 Vert cheap because the P.O. though he had a bad clutch and ruined the trans.

I've dealt with so many different clutch issuers over the years, but this one was a complete surprise.

I've never seem a OEM leaky T.O. Bearing, at least one that had not had the hydraulic line disconnected. Contamination is the worst enemy for hydraulics. But, it is still worth trying this Vac pull a few times,,, Better than tearing your Clutch out. Slow leaks do occur but very minimal, and can be refilled over several years, I've got one of those too.

Also, if you have a non OEM Clutch, call the maker or where you purchased it. As Improper clutch release, my experience, was always the pressure plate. Is this something new ??

If all this fails, replace the master cylinder with the factory hydraulic line attached. I would recommend that you install a factory OEM master. Then re-bleed. Be Darn positive your lines are clean prior to removal. Use soap and water. DO NOT use cleaning solvents.

Let me know if you need anything else. PM, and I'll send you my phone number, photos if needed

Good Luck !!

Michael

I recommend re-bleeding the clutch hydraulics, readjust the master cyl linkage and see where you stand.

Good LUCK on the Fishing Trip..

I'll try that when I get home. Hasn't been a very good start on my trip,I hate starting a trip when it's blowing 50+. It's hard on the crew starting the trip, fishing is decent so far though.
