2000 base Coolant Reservoir
Dorman 603-140 Pressurized Coolant Reservoir
GM 10430189

and a 1999 base Coolant Reservoir

When the coolant level is low there is a message that appears in the DIC indicating the condition.

2000 and later year surge tanks do NOT have the sensor. In fact according to the owners manual there is not even an error message for that condition on 2000 and later year C5's.

You can use either tank on the 2000 and later just no place to plug in the lead if you use a 99 or earlier surge tank. If the later year tank is used on the 99 and earlier year cars then the low coolant feature does not work.
Thank You Sir !!!!

Says "where applicable" for the sensor on the Dorman site. Never bought a Dorman but I know for a fact that the Delco replacement does NOT have a sensor if you get the part for the 2000 and later.

I just saw that you have a 99. Looked up a 99C5 on the Dorman site and they do NOT list a coolant reservoir for 99. I would think that their part 603-140 does NOT work properly with the 99 given no listing on their site... I could be wrong....
This is what I found on the Dorman site !!

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Dorman’s Engine Coolant Recovery Tank is designed for enduring use. It resists the expansion and cracking that extreme temperature fluctuations can cause. Plus, the durable plastic construction prevents coolant fluid loss.

Comes with reservoir cap
Level sensor included (where applicable)
Direct replacement for a proper fit every time
Quality tested to ensure trouble-free installation and performance

Please post back your results.
I wasn't convinced that's why I started this thread !!!!! it's just that on e-bay there are some for more money some for less but they looked like they were in a war !!!! I have had good luck with Dorman products I have used on my truck !!!

Rockauto lists only the Delco 10405218 for $70.79 for the '99. They list the Dorman 603140 and Delco 10430189 for the '00. That tells me the Dorman part doesn't fit the '98-99, probably because it doesn't have the sensor.
