Just got done with the back of the car and left 2.5 threads showing on the bolts, as per the pic below. Unfortunately, I think the car now sits higher than it did before. Is this normal? I know it'll settle over time, but there's some serious fender gap on it right now. How long will it take to right itself?
BTW- I didn't cut any of the bushings. Could that be causing this??
Re: How long does it take to settle after lowering? (TwoTonSS)
You need to drive it for a week or two. Remember, when you jack the car, the suspension is loaded and you need to drive it to get it to settle. Mine's lowered using the stock bolts but every time I jack it up, it's SUV city. Driving it a little settles it again.
You lowered it correctly - just drive it. :yesnod:

Thanks- I guess I need to be a bit more patient. ;) It looks like it's settled some, so hopefully in a few days it'll be down the rest of the way.
Shyguy- so far, I've only done the rears. Fronts can wait for tomorrow- I'm going to enjoy what's left of the evening. :D

Just drive it for a couple of miles, it'll settle. When you lower the front, you should have about 10 threads or so showing and remember-counterclockwise.

Drive over railroad tracks! This will settle them quick. When I did mine, I drove it about 2miles and in those two miles I ran over two sets of RR tracks and the car was completely settled by the time I got back.

every car will respond a little different. some settle in 10 miles and some take as much as 50 to 75 miles. The newer cars usually settle a little slower then older ones. Just go out and drive :seeya
