Bought my car about 8 months ago and swore to myself I was going to keep it stock. I spent way too many nights researching mods and way too many weekends on my back in the garage under my old Mustang Cobra and didn't want to do down that path again.
Well, I'm sure you see where this is going. Now that I'm actually going to be able to get it out of the garage any week now, I'm thinking about just a little more power. Don't need to go crazy, I would be happy with 425-450 whp. I know those numbers are doable N/A, and I've seen all kinds of combos that would do it, but I need it to be very streetable and (more importantly), smogable. (Outside of Cali, Colorado has some of the toughest emissions.)
Right now, it just has Halltech intake, Dynatech headers and ?? catback (pretty sure it's not the Ti, just haven't gotten a chance to take a look-see at it yet).
Thoughts on a combo? How about local (or well-known non-local) engine builders for this?
Nice, Im in the same boat and have the same power goal, bought mine last May, and swore Id keep it stock...ya right! (did intake and longtubes, and suspension) From all the research I did 243 heads(if you have ls1) and a cam like the BTR stg 2 range should get into that whp range with long tubes, my biggest reservation is the clutch, I know I will kill it(broke 2 clutches in my 370z, Im borderline abusive, or so I am told), gonna wait till I find a trustworthy shop to do the clutch before I get into any more engine mods.
You're right. I missed this part. "(Outside of Cali, Colorado has some of the toughest emissions.)" Passing emissions tests with a 420rwhp NA motor would be hard and take some fancy tuning.

Yeah, that was kinda my suspicion. Hypothetically speaking: would it be possible to do H/C/I and normal tune (for off-road use only, of course), then do a software-only swap (tune) if I decided to emission it? Anyone have any experience doing this?
