From 4'th to Reverse

I have been happy with the tranny so far, but now that I've tried to use it on a track I understand why people change the shifters....
Anyway, the result is that sometimes when I try to engage into reverse, it has not moved completely into gear. If I just keep pressure on the gear lever when I let the clutch out, it always pop into gear and it does never jump out of gear. So it's no big deal and I will not do anything with this now, but maybe in the winter.
Does anyone know what probably have happened? I know there is a unit inside the tranny which we call (dir translated) shift fork. My guess is that it has been bent a little so that it sometimes is not able to push the gears completely into place for reverse (no other issues with 1-6)

There are SEVERAL things that contribute to the issue.
1. You need to TEST the REVERSE LOCK OUT SOLENOID.
Its quite easy. Get the car going down the road at a speed of say,,, 30 MPH. Shift the transmission into Neutral. While the car is coasting down the road, PUSH the shifter handle into the 5th/6th GATE. The shift handle should NOT go into the REVERSE gate! If you apply FORCE to the shift handle, it SHOULD push further into the reverse gate.
NOTE!! As long as you don't PUSH the shift handle FROWARD into the actual REVERSE GEAR it SHOULD NOT GRIND. You are just seeing if the actual reverse lock out prevents the shift handle from entering the reverse gate. If its working correctly it should NOT be easy to push it into that gate. It takes a LOT of force to push past the lock out.
2. OK,,, This is where it gets Personal.
You SHIFT TECHNIQUE SUCKS! If you are using the DEATH GRIP on your shift ****, and FORCING it into the shift gates you are going to have shifting issues. Wait till you are winding out third gear and go to slam it into 4th (and because you have a death grip on the shift ****) you pull the shift handle towards your body and actually shift into SECOND GEAR!

As your engine MECHANICALLY REVS to 9000 RPM and you bend all your push rods, you will start to invent NEW cuss words!
Take a look at the video in this HINSON C5 SHIFTER post. The driver has a pretty good shift technique " PALM of HAND & TIPS of FINGERS"! Once you master this, it difficult to make a mistake.

3. On another note, YES! You also need a BETTER SHIFTER. I purchased a KIRBAN Shifter. It has ADDITIONAL shifter rod CENTERING SPRINGS and when you BUMP the handle out of gear, the shift handle IMMEDIATELY springs into the 3rd/4th Neutral gate, ready for action... There are MANY good Shifters out there. KIRBAN, MGW, HINSON ect... You need to pick one. I like the additional shift handle centering force provided by shifter with centering springs. Some people don't!
When you have issues engaging REVERSE or any gear for that matter, a couple things come to mind.
1. The synchros and are worn enough that it makes engaging the gear difficult.
2. Theres an entire post on this issue: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...verse-fix.html

The other solenoid is for the CAGS feature.
This soleniod, can you access it from under the car or do you need to remove panels in the cockpit?

So,,, its all done from under the car.
Examine the DTCs (by using the DIC) and see if you have a DTC P-0801, Reverse Inhibit Control Circuit Malfunction.
Report results
Could this be a bad grounding issue?
