Might take it back out tomorrow and make sure all the solder is in the right places.
for what it's worth I use a 9 volt battery with alligator clips to power things up to check if they are working. (find your ground and lighting terminals)
Hey zdeckich I know the thread is 7 years old but wanted to know if you found the problem to your backlights not working.
Mine is doing the same thing. Fixed the digital display and now the bulbs don't light up.
Tried to message you but it said it was full and couldn't accept anymore.

Having same issue.
Reading above, all got this after resoldering resistors... can it be that something nearby is screwed with the heat ?
PS: Hadn't re-opened mine, still using with no backlight...
