Default DTE trans/diff brace

Those of you that have the dte trans/diff brace or have installed one, can you install and adjust it with the car on jack stands and without removing the rear end? Also, I have read that you have to cut an ear off of the diff with the ecs brace. The dte brace does not require this, correct? I have searched, and I have not found a definitive answer. It seems that most install it while everything is out, but I want to install one now so that hopefully it will be a while before I have to pull everything out!

I have they ecs brace, as my foggy memory remembers, it was really close but didn't need any grinding. and yes no need to remove the diff

I have the ECS brace, felt it was the better design. With that said I installed mine in the car with no modifications. However I can't speak for the dte brace. The part you had to cut for the ECS brace was only on the z06 diff, not the coupe/vert.

I will say that you're wrenching by brail 90% of the time. Took me about 3 hrs and I have every tool needed. Just very tedious tightening bolts and 1/8 turn at a time.

Installed the ECS brace with drivetrain out of my C5 since I was upgrading everything anyway. I did have to grind some material off the cross member as the lower right tie rod was too close for comfort. I do have the DTE diff mount and the Hinson short motor mounts so they probably contributed to the clearance issue.

DTE diff mount

Passenger side - fine

Driver side - tight

Driver side - clearanced

Did you leave the drivetrain in the car, or was it out? I got a quote to have it installed for $260ish, thats really not bad, but if I can do it myself on jack stands I would much rather do that. I've done an ls1 fbody clutch swap on jack stands, but this scares me more for some reason... I think most of my apprehension is just getting the car off the ground high enough on jack stands.

$260 is pretty cheap for peace of mind. I did my own install, but it was while I was replacing my diff, so, lots easier.

My whole drive train was out. took about 30 mins to install it that way

Took me 3 hrs to install with the tranny in the car, it's a lot of wrenching by brail but I would never pay someone for something as straightforward as this is.
