That message comes on when you are at least one quart low. However, you could be completely dry if you have an oil leak. What was the oil pressure like on the way in to work? I'd check the dipstick to see if it is registering at all before I would start it! If the level isn't registering on the stick I wouldn't even crank it! IMHO.
Oil pressure was the same as always, middle of the gauge.
Mix alot - my hoopties rolling, tail pipe draggin, heat don't work and my girl keeps naggin, 69 Buick, deuce is rolling, 1 hubcap cause three got stolen
I just got this message on the DIC when I started my car "LOW OIL LEVEL"
I was in a hurry and I drove back to work 10 miles.
Now I have to drive another 20 home...To ge some mobil 1.
Is it ok to go 30 miles with that message displayed?
It could very well be low oil, but was there any chance you parked on a steep slope? That will trigger the low oil light also and it seems like it takes forever to clear even if your oil is full up. I finally disconnected the battery to clear the message. I have heard from quite a few people that this has happened to also. What does the dipdtick say?

Doesn't even have to be all that "steep" of a slope. I have a parking spot that, if I don't back into at the right angle, will cause this error msg if I'm about 1/2 qt low. The msg has always gone away once I shut it off and restart on a level surface.
