Hi everyone. I am the owner of a 98. For some reason she keeps stalling when I try to start her. Only 30000 miles. Just got inspected. Garage kept. Not driven often. Pampered not abused. I believe the gas is from last year. Could that be a problem? How do I check that?
Listen to the various forum gurus- This is where you need to start. That said, another key point to remember is that your car is almost 20 years old. Garage kept is meaningless when it averaged only 1500 miles a year- You may have dried fuel system seals, I guarantee you the gas is iffy, and really the car needs to be gone over thoroughly. On older C5s, the fuel rail Schrader valve is notorious for leaking, as well as dried up injector seals.
Take a good weekend, and change all fluids (oil, steering, coolant, transmission, rear end), change the plugs and wires, clean the throttle body, get some good gas in her and go from there. The mechanicals of your car are most likely great; it's just that anything made out of rubber will be a bit dry. Have a look at the belts, and while you're at it I would change the coolant temp sensor (cheap and easy, and they send sketchy messages to the ECU when they're old) and clean the MAF.
