Default This lifter install kit ok?

Looking to replace my stock lifters and came across this kit. Can someone tell me if these lifters included are the LS7 lifters? I was looking on the gmparts website and it showed the replacement lifter being about $30, I assume that is each?!

I am about to pull the trigger on these. Can someone take a look and verify that these are good for my stock LS6? Seems like a good deal. Thanks

Why do you want to change your lifters, do they have a problem?

I have a loud tapping sound on a cold start that I am pretty sure is a bad lifter.

Are you going to have a valve job done while the heads are off?

No I hadn't planned on it. I was just going to swap lifters and lifter cups.

It's just me but I have never pulled the heads and not had a valve job done before reinstalling them.

I would take advantage of any opportunities you have while the heads are off. It is not that expensive.

I agree with this too. Valve job is not overly expensive...

"And while you're in there..."

Scoggin Dickey Parts and Brian Tooley Racing are two good places to source lifter kits. The LS7 lifter is the only "OEM" replacement that GM sells for the entire lineup of LS based engines.

Get the trays too. They're cheap.

I would HIGHLY recommend new valve springs also.

Valve job. Inspect heads and valve seats. New valve guides, inspect the valves and valve seat margins. Lap / Reseat each valve and or replace any valves that are damage or out of spec. New Valve guide seals. Set the spring height with required shims.

New valve springs, guides and seals were the first thing I did when I bought the car, about 10k miles ago.

^Plus most shops will triple grind the valves for you. Triple grinding is where the seat surface of the valve is cut at three angles to help flow (more curved than a cone shape). I disassembled/reassembled mine and got a discount, $150 for both.

The factory valve guide design in these heads is hardy (ductile iron) and usually doesn't require replacement unless there is damage.

You will want to install new seals. They fit under the springs and are easy to install.

I agree with what the other guys have said but also inspect the cam lobes for wear. Bad lifters or weak valve springs (valve float) can damage cam lobes which is always a downhill slope. That metal has to go somewhere aka bearings, so just take a look.
