My 97 developed an issue. The lights won't turn off when I shut my Vette down. Also, the binging keeps going when you have the door open. Same as when you leave the key in the ignition or didn't turn off the lights. It does stop when I shut the door but the headlights are still on even in the off position with the headlamp units in closed position. At first i thought the motors may be bad but they work fine. It must be something electrical, perhaps in the light switch itself. I called local chevy dealership and he wants $100 just to drive in and have his mechanic look at it, and he told me it can go higher.
So tell me, is anyone familiar with this issue and know a fix?
My wife is driving the car until I can afford to get her a newer one. I work over 200 miles from home and not home every weekend, so I have get information on the issue and the fix so she can take the Vette in for repairs.
Chuck,
I don't see where the Ambient Light Sensor Option was available in 1997, except for models built for the Canadian market. The Canadian version had a separate DRL control module not found on the domestic and export versions.
I'll post the 97 domestic and export schematics that I think apply. Those first two years can be quite different as I'm sure you know. Hope it helps.
