Corvette C5 Passenger side check valve replacement question
So with the new ar that I bought the passenger side check valve is not connected. The car has aftermarket headers where the hook up for the purge valve is closer to the front of the engine so it doesnt line up.
My question is can I cut the aluminum hose and then splice in a rubber hose then I would be able to connect the purge valve. I am not sure how hot this aluminum gets and if the rubber would melt?
How is it now connected or did you just install the headers? Mine have been removed for years but as I recall there is some rubber on the driver's side.

its not connected they capped the header so that there is no exhaust leak and then just left the purge valve there. The only reason I care is because I keep getting the check engine light turning on. I think the purge valve is still good cause when he car is running the purge valve is definatly sucking in air..

So it looks like the rubber starts after the actual purge valve on the drivers side.
How did you remove the Purge valve and not have the check engine light on.. or do you just deal with it?
When I installed a set of headers, I just discarded all the air pump tubing. I also removed the air pump fuse. But if you want to retain it, yes you can use heater hose. The valve you're referring to, is a check valve, and shouldn't be sucking. It should be blowing on a cold start only. This is to heat up the o2 sensors quicker for emissions.

When you pull the fuse and discard all of the air pump tubing.. will that make is so that the check engine light wont come on?

You have to have it tuned out by a tuner. Surprised this wasn't done for the header tune, if it was tuned. Other food for thought, most header manufacturers recommend not capping the AIR connection because after time it will crack. Tuning it out allows you to simply remove the hoses and pipes and makes it much cleaner under the hood.
