Default Setting coilover kit and 345-tires

I´m doing a complete re-built of my 01z which includes a Stance coilover kit, L5 rear fenders and 20" CCW´s (made by John´s specs to fit inside wide fenders with 345-tires). This is an early test fit before it was disassembled and painted - the suspension is OEM Z06 and previous owner had it aligned in factory settings.

This is link to the built thread with pictures of the recent progress: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-2001-z06.html

I´ve searched a lot of threads for info about setting the coilovers - but I can only find "pieces" of experience. But I see lots of posts with pictures of amazing wide body vettes with a killer stance - and it could be useful for me (and others) if you would share your settings in this thread. Please post pictures too.

For me, I do want it to be low, but I dont want the fenders to hit the tires. My goal is a rear stance around 1,5 inch from tire to fender. I´ve read many comments about using a setting between 8-12 out of 16 so its hard enough and will not hit the fenders? I dont like drilling a hole on top of the rear shock mounts - so I hope to be able to make the final installation at first attempt.

Please chime in if you have any good advice regardless the brand of coilovers you have.

every car and driver is going to be different so you're gonna have to take some time to fiddle with it and get it to your liking... when I first installed my coilovers I started out with what some others commonly had theirs set and I hated it, I ended up turning them up almost all the way and the car is a lot better than it was before... like I said it's just going to vary from car to car and driver to driver

I set mine on 9 and it's fine there. I dialed height until my passenger side lip from floor was 27.5" and driver side 27.75" me not in it. I set all heights with sways unlinked or unloaded.. Than I aligned and corner weighted it with me in it.
I run 345 30 19 a 13" wheel with L-5'S.

Most have installed the 2" rear flare (like me). I didnt buy the front flares, but they are 0,75".

L5 also makes a rear race version with less flare - I think it´s 1" or 1,25"

Very sharp looking vette and stance

Dont you have any tire rub? It looks pretty tight? Or is it solved with a little more negative camber added?

I´m going for a stance like yours in the front, and just a bit higher in the rear.

1/8" spacer in rear. When I ran an aggressive alignment it rubbed brake ducts so I removed them. I recently put it back to just a hint more than stock. But no rub. If I hit a nasty dip in the road it might touch inner fender well.

That also is the stance to ballast the car and make all fours literally almost identical.

I´ll order complete new mounting hardware but I cant find any kits. Can anybody verify, if I have it all covered:
  • Rear lower - one bolt and one nut each side
  • Rear top - two bolts each side
  • Front lower - two bolts and two nuts each side
  • Front top - one nut, retainer and insulator each side

I´m not sure about the front lower nuts - is the a-arm threaded? Do I need any other shims, nuts or ?

Thanks

Hmmm - here is pretty quiet...

Some of you must have disassembled these parts, and can confirm if I miss some hardware on my shopping list. Please chime in - as really need your advice.

The front a-arms are not threaded. you need a 13mm deep well socket for the nuts.
You really don't need new mounting hardware the original will work fine.

You do understand that the adjustment ***** on the shocks do not adjust the ride-hight but the dampening. The hight is adjusted by the bottom of the shock it screws in and out to lengthen or shorten the shock body.

Thanks - that was exactly what I needed

For the ride height - yes, I know the **** is only for dampening

Just to be sure:

I want to check the rear wheel clearance when maximum compressed. Is the best way to jack up the wheel (one at a time) until the coil over is all bottomed out? And if it dont hit anything (inner/outer fender etc.) I´m home safe?

Or is there any other way to check the clearance?
