Default Auto Torq Converter Tips

A few tips on installing a torque converter.
I watched this Video some things he didnt mention
I worked the Toledo Powertrain plant and installed quite a few.

One thing is he was pounding on the converter.Actually its better
if you turn it while tapping on it with your palms, Dont fight it.
The harder you struggle the worse it is.Next is pumps and then valve bodys

Im a MANUAL Car driver and don't get to play with A4s too often but, I helped a friend change converters to a higher stall speed and ran into a very strange and perplexing situation.

When we properly seated the converter ALL THE WAY INTO THE TRANS; and as we were rotating the converter it was scraping the bolts on the pump!

We were worried that something was wrong or we had the wrong converter. I had to call someone that was very knowledgeable in auto trans issues (CHUCK COW) "Thanks Chuck for assist"

He stated that it was NORMAL and nothing out of the ordinary because once the trans is mated to the TT flex plate, you pull the TC out of the trans enough to meet the flex plate and then it will clear the stuff behind it.

Just a heads up for anyone that may run into that same issue.. and be concerned.

Also make sure the pump bolts are torqued.
The Pump Seal is in place
The pump clip is on
The input shaft has a check ball and a O-ring seal on the end
