Default Aluminum flywheel (balancing)

I have a aluminum flywheel to replace my oem one.

We do not have a shop that does balancing on the island.

I assume the weight added in the attached pic is what gm added from the facotry.

Can i get away with adding the same amount of weight in same spot on my new flywheel?

Seems GM does not recommend moving the weight any longer. See the GM service document in post #7 of this thread:

It depends upon what brand of flywheel you are installing. Some ar not dynamically balanced, some are. And, I wouldn't go to all of the trouble to do a clutch in a C5 without having the flywheel and pressure plate balanced as a unit. I've bought mismatched pressure plates and flywheels and taken them to be balanced as a unit and it was surprising how far off two supposedly balanced parts were off when put together.

Maybe you get lucky not having them balanced, maybe you don't.

I'm guessing you mean you don't feel any vibration at any driving speed or RPM. If that is so, all done.

This is with no drivetrain installed. Just flywheel and pp. I did find a electric motor shop with balancing equipment . I need to find a crank to bolt the assembly too

Ha,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I couldn't AGREE more with what kp1 stated!

However,,, That being said, I also have the SPEC Stage 2 and the SPEC Flywheel. I did have the flywheel match balanced to my old one.

I was so paranoid about vibrations that I also ran the engine with the new flywheel attached. ZERO vibrations! WHEW!!

That test would tell you that it isn't GROSS out of balance. The problem occurs when all that other stuff is connected and the vibrations get amplified thru the rest of the drive train.
