Default Power windows C5

Any help please. I had the driver's side power window motor replaced 2 years ago. Now the same window fail to go down. I took of the door panel and tap the motor to no avail. Touched the motor and noticed it was very hot, even with no power. Is it common that this motor failed again

You say the motor is very hot, how hot is very hot? Too hot to hold your hand on it?

If it is too hot to touch, by all means disconnect the motor from the circuit. Does this only occur when the key is on, or even when the key is not inserted? If it occurs all of the time, it is clearly receiving power and should also be running your battery down.

You may be able to check the motor once it is disconnected. You can do this with the aide of a 12 volt battery. The terminals are connected to the positive and negative terminals and should function in one direction. Reverse the connections and it should operate in the opposite direction. It the motor functions when tested in this manner, you need to focus on the circuitry, switches, door control module etc.

Let us know what you discover... GUSTO

I was told that it was a OEM from GM along with an adapter for the plug. So it should have been a good replacement. I will try it and let you know. I was also wondering if it also possible that the module for the window maybe shorting. Either way I will post my results.

usually its the wiring harness between the doors that causes issues could be a short somewhere causing the heat

Thanks I replaced the motor again. Cheaper on zip corvette. No problem since. However trying to get the seal tight is another problem. I have had the window adjustment done twice but it still leaks when raining. Plus a slight whistle while drinking at 50 plus

Which adjustment was done ? reason I ask is because there is actually 2 adjustments. In and out tilt and upper stop.

I explain how to adjust the Up travel Stop it in this post :
