Default After winter hibernation first start Up

My C-5 has been covered and stored in the garage for approx 6 months. It has been on a battery tender.
My question for you is:
Is there an easy way to keep the ignition from firing the plugs during my initial after hibernation start up. I want to crank the engine for while to build up oil pressure and circulate the oil.
Then after I have done that i'll hook up the ignition and fire up the engine.
I just feel that it would be better for the engine since all the oil has probably drained off all the internal parts.
Thanks

There is ONE fuses in the UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX that power the coils and injectors. It is PCM Mini Fuse #16. Just remove it and it will provide you what you want!

PCM mini fuse#16 Kills all the injectors and coils.

Despite what it says in the owners manual my car will not start with my foot to the floor on the accelerator. I crank the motor for short times to get some oil pressure built up, release the accelerator and the motor fires the first time.

I can only tell you what happens with my 03.

You can also unplug the coil pack harness on each side of the motor that feeds each bank of 4 coil packs.

FOOT TO THE FLOOR on modern fuel injected cars is called CLEAR FLOOD and YES, it cuts fuel to the injectors BUT, I prefer to pop out a fuse.

BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I have see people not do it correctly and rev the eng to limit at cold start!!!

I will defer to your expertise Bill. I have never over revved my motor doing this but I guess there is always a first time.

Thanks for the tip on the #16 mini fuse.

Question on this topic, using Mobil 1 synthetic doesn't this oil keep parts protected from a dry start?

Same here. Not sure if cranking it without firing is the better approach since there will be minimal oil pressure.

I always just start mine. Been doing it with every car I've ever stored, up to about 10mo. Never had a single issue.

i agree but people need thing to keep them busy even tho it is a waste of time.

I would suggest that the Op do this everytime he starts his chevrolet-you know to keep liner wear to a minimal. Good Luck!!

Just start the car. Oil doesn't completely drain off internal parts. It coats. That's the point.

Further... what benefit would come from letting the motor turn over but not actually start? Real question.

Theory is the oil pump rotates with the engine but I don't see it spinning fast enough on just the starter to create full pressure.

I could understand on a new engine or one that's been sitting for years and years and years but even then there would be a different procedure. Honestly I don't know who comes up with this stuff. Seems like every forum has it's own wives tales.
