Default No Drone Exhaust

Needing to get rid of the SLP Loud Mouth on my C5 the drone is horrible.
I will be running Long tubes and Cat-less x-pipe. I want a Loud free flowing exhaust. But i want minimize the drone. So i'm trying to figure out what catback has these characteristics?

Thanks in Advance

Any of the "Can" type like Flowmasters drone. I would try getting Dynomax Super Turbos. They sound great on every car I have had them on. No Drone as they a traditional sheet metal case and are a packed muffler as well. The 17676 has the same side inlet and outlet muffler for like 55.00. Just go to a good muffler shop and have someone connect it together. Get some nice large tips. I mean some of these axle backs are ridiculous in price too 1000.00.

vette catback any gen is a ripoff
The ST mufflers arent trendy but have been around forever and about quiet as you can get without going back to stock;bigger the case the better

no way to have real loud without some drone

I once heard that identical sized mufflers will drone (something about resonance). Maybe try a couple of different-sized mufflers?

I went back and forth with all kinds of ideas for a muffler/axleback system. I looked into B&B, Corsa, Borla, Dynomax, Stainless Works, SLP, I even thought of cutouts. I thought of having a shop whip me up a system with some dynomax mufflers. Race bullets and another muffler of theirs. I decided against it although it would have been cheap. I almost went with the SLP loudmouth but decided against it for the reported drone. After much feedback, plenty of reading and too many youtube videos I went with the Corsa Xtreme. I got a great deal from a vendor here, and I couldn't deny the only positive reviews. I couldn't deny the fact that they're hard to find used because people don't get rid of them!

The Corsa went on my 02 Z. It's so loud, and I have stock manifolds and the H pipe still. NO DRONE. EVER. Crusing around town it's only slightly louder than the Ti exhaust. Very nice from inside the car. Accelerating from a stop under normal driving conditions is awesome. Very aggressive. It really starts to scream at 3000 rpm and north of 4 it's just nasty! Great tone too, somewhat high pitched. Sounds exotic, yet muscular. Scares pedestrians, literally. Makes me giggle. My wife, who is against mods, loves it. She couldn't help but take it to rpm's she never would have before. We both smile more now from point A to point B.

That's my vote.

Look at adding J-pipes to your current setup. There was a recent post of someone who found the right length. Will save you a ton of money over a corsa exhaust

The Z06 titanium exhaust won't drone. And with your setup it will bark when you get on it but be pretty quiet just cruising around. I think it is the best of all worlds.

I have the same system on my supercharged '02 coupe. I was really surprised how quiet the system was at cruise speeds (6th gear at 75) with no drone at all inside the car. I don't even have to turn the stereo up

But at WOT in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, this system is LOUD I don't have headers and the cats are still in place. I have listened to a number of systems, and I think the Corsa is the best. The Indy Pace Car version is gone but it just has a different model name now.

My car had a shop-built Flowmaster system on it when I bought it. They droned. I put a full XSPower header to tip system on it and it is now quieter cruising, WAY louder at WOT and has no drone.

I am about performance. Loud does not mean that much more hp especially in a Catback. In my experience the most bang for your buck on the street is to eliminate the cats. So to me having a 55 Gallon Barrel being pounded on underneath you is not pleasurable. The ST's are quiet without drone (Can hear them slightly at cruise) or slightly louder than stock running around town. Open them up and they get loud. Had a Mustang GT with and offroad H pipe and the stock Muffs. Switched to the ST's and it was very nice as mentioned.

Dynomax does have there new muffler that has the spring loaded Bypass in them as well. Those might be the ticket as well.

I like doing custom because you are not like everyone else and you can tune the sound the way you like it. Plus it is usually less expensive. I guess I am going to have to do this on my Vette to see if the ST's work well.
