Default Bigger cam or no?

I have a 383 stroker and I have a 231 239 608 612 113. Cam. I am replacing my front seal and cover gasket. So hell. Should I go with a bigger cam for more power?

generic question gets generic questions back:

* whats the use of the car
* auto or manual (whats the stall if manual?)
* gear ratio

If it's street driven, I'd stop there. If it's track only, you might as well go as big as the pistons can handle w/o being flycut, unless you've already done that.

Not a generic question in my mind. But I had a stock 5.7 and the cam was put in. I spun a rod bearing and went with a 383 built for nitrous (not sure if I'll ever spray) so if I have it tore down should I go with a bigger cam.

Use is whatever I want

Relax....no need to be a dick....I agree. And if you have it torn down, then might as well. Have you upgraded the heads already? If not, I would do that as well...if budget permits of course

How big? What kind of driving do you usually do?

I'd probably always go for a so-called 'stage 2' whereas a 'stage 4' would **** you off anywhere but an open road.

Are you also going to upgrade any of the rest of the valvetrain? For some cams, you need to; for others, you may just want to.

For mainly a street driven or dd, if I can drive around in a parking lot without having a lot of bucking issues, then no problem. For the strip, bigger is sometimes better, but for a road course bigger could be a detriment. It's like having a two stroke where you have to be on the pipe to be in the power band.
If you really want docile big power, go forced induction. At least these are my thoughts.

What's your compression ratio? That cam duration is close to all I'd want unless your CR is higher than 10.5:1
Gets lazy in the midrange.
