I had to replace the battery on my 1997 C5. Now instead of showing the mileage of the car it has "error" there. I have disconnected and reconnected the battery, checked for codes (found none), disconnected the battery along with turning it on but still shows "error" instead of the mileage. What is the fix? Thanks
I'm no expert with electric stuff, but...
1. What caused the battery replacement, and what were the symptoms that caused you to replace it?
2. Have you had the new battery tested? New does not guarantee no faults/issues, may be a faulty cell or?

1. I had the trickle charger on and came into the garage and heard a clicking noise. The trickle charger was cycling on and off as it tried to charge. Took battery out and it read only 8.5 volts not 12.
2. No have not had new battery tested but car does start and the trickle charger is working on it.
Good question. I will have it tested also. Thanks!
The odometer mileage is stored in the IPC in the gauge cluster. It is possible that it has failed for some reason or another.
I believe that there is a DIC code that is thrown when communication with the IPC, PCM or BCM is lost. Sorry I dunno which it is specifically but it would be pull-able from the DIC as it still is functioning.

Thanks! I read the DIC and there are no codes. From what I have read is it is corrupted and has to be sent in to be repaired.
