I am swapping out header gaskets and cannot get the bolt on the pass side at front of head to thread on. It came out perfectly fine. Everytime I try to thread the bolt back in it acts like its cross threaded but I know it hasnt been. I am stuck and need some help
Couple of things. Did you tighten the other bolts already? If so, loosen them. If that doesn't work, try a different bolt. If that doesn't work, try changing the order you install the bolts.
You could be off alignment ever so slightly but enough to give you a hard time. I ran into that installing a motor mount on a car. I had to remove all bolts and start with the one that was giving me issues. Once I did that, all went in like butter.

Get a tap and run it in and out of the hole to clean up the threads.
Guys thanks for the feedback, after many curse words and painting my header with blood I was able to get it. That hole was just really picky and the angle of the bolt going in had to be perfect, it odd tho because I didnt have trouble with any of the others. Here is a pic of the factory gasket I had used when I put the headers in not too long ago.

I wish I could say it was, but no. I have determined after listening many times with a stethoscope that the tapping I have is def down in the motor. I have ruled out exhaust, valve covers, belts... so I am going to go with lifter noise. Now I just have to decide weather or not I am going to replace lifters and trays or leave it alone.
