I have a 99 corvette with an automatic transmission. I was driving my vette and all the sudden it died. I had it tow back to my house. It cranks over but it will not start. There is no error code. I sprayed starter fluid via vac. hose and it tries to start. I also swapped out the fuel pump relay and it did not start. I am ordering a LPE high performance fuel pump for it. The question I have is that since there are 2 pumps in the left and right tank. How could I tell which one needs replacing and how many hours of labor am I looking at?
Did you test for fuel pressure? The primary pump is on the driver's side (left side). The pump in the passenger side tank is a jet pump that has no moving parts. It does not supply fuel to the engine it just pumps fuel from the passenger side tank to the driver's side tank. Do some more testing to be sure you have a bad pump.
On my 04 Murano, the car at 70 mph just shut down. It would not start (like yours). I had it towed to my fix-it guy and when he tried it, it started. Something was wrong, but because it was now running, no codes indicated a problem. Went on line and it pointed to the Crankshaft sensor or the fuel pump. Since the fuel pump was $1200 to replace or the sensor was $300, decided to go with the sensor. 15 months later no issues. Might add crankshaft sensor to your possible repair mix.
My shop manual is for a 2004 and the fuel system changed in mid model year 2003 or I would post the wiring diagram from the manual. Perhaps someone with a shop manual for the earlier year C5 can post the wiring diagram??...........
