Default New here corvette not starting

Hi guys..im new here..apology if I'm posting the wrong place..still learning the site..i have a 01 vette that is a fixer upper.. the problem I'm having is the car will not crank..i put a new bcm in then read on here that all the problems I was having was coming from a dirty ignition switch that I cleaned...fixed the issues I was having with the fuel pump not kicking on, hvac display not powering up, traction control was dead...anyway I cleaned the ignition..put it back together and put the old bcm back in the car...i did not have the new one flashed...the old one would let the car crank and run when the ignition made contact...so now when I try to start the car it will not crank...the security light is flashing...please note that I never had an issue was the security light until I cleaned the ignition switch..so the old bcm is in the car with a clean ignition switch that fixed the problems when I first turn the key on...but no crank...did I set off some kind of security issues with messing with the bcm or ignition switch? Never had a problem with the key resistor, but I cleaned it anyway....any help or direction?

The problem is the new BCM! Did you do any kind of BCM/PCM Security "SYNC" /BCM Relearn Reprogram Program procedure???

It MUST be done to allow the new BCM to sync up with the PCM.

The procedure is in this post. Its a LONG procedure so MAKE SURE that the battery is fully charged and in good condition:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...m-program.html

BCM Relearn Reprogram Program

Do this before you worry about VATS issues:

1. Turn on the key for 11 minutes.
2 Turn off the key for 30 seconds.
3. Repeat 1&2 two more times.
4. Turn on the key for 30 seconds.

My comments:
Pull your DTC's and you should see a P1631
To further support that you need to program the BCM, the security light will flash 3 times and then remain steady and not go off.
When the BCM is programmed, the security light goes off within seconds on turning the key on. If it remains on, do the following:

Turn key on for 11 minutes. At close to that time, the security light will go off. When it does......
Turn key off for 30 seconds
Turn the key back on. Security light comes back on. Stays on for ~10-11 minutes and when it goes off, turn the key off for another 30 seconds.
Turn the key back on and watch the security light. If the security light goes off within a few seconds, you’re done.

If you retrieve your DTC's afterward, You should see a P1630H. That means the BCM entered learn mode and the H means it's a history code and no longer in learn mode.

Hi Bill, Thanks for the reply. The old BCM is in the car now, I didn't do a BCM SYNC with the new one... I did with the old one, it ran my battery dead, lol. I did it before I ever posted about the problem. Just so you know what all I have done, I will explain from the beginning... The car started acting up about a week ago, the traction control stopped giving messages, HVAC quit working, then finaly the fuel pump stopped. A friend of mine told me it was the BCM. so I went and bought one. I installed it and realized it needed to be flashed by tech 2 or dealer...mean while I stumbled on to this site and found a thread on how to clean the ignition (one of your old posts if im not mistaking) the next day I cleaned the ignition and turned the car on and all the stuff I described above started working again (with out starting,, just on the acc part of switch), I put the old BCM back in because I found the problem,, then went to start the car and no crank,, then I did the SYCN as described above in your thread, still nothing,, Im not sure if I have ran my battery down to low to get it to crank or not, it is currently on charge...So after all that I decided to make my first post on this forum...Never had a security problem with the old BCM or Key problem... wish I would have found this site sooner.. If you think I should try the SYNC again, Just let me know,,, Thanks for your help and direction,,,Jamie

He has a TDR relay issue. He jumped the RED & Purple wire and the engine cranked and ran. We are checking the yellow black stripe wire to ground to see if it is the TDR or the BCM issue

Back Soon with results. Have not see any body so happy to see the engine start and run.

Read the YELLOW wire to ground with the ignition switch in CRANK/START position and only saw .1 volt. That tell me that the ignition switch is BAD. All the fuse test good.
