Default Re installing timing chain cover

So I am replacing the front main seal and timing cover gasket. I have the cover off and new seals. My question is. Is the lower seal on the oil pan connected all the way around the oil pan? If so I'm guessing I have to reuse that seal and just use some rtv? The new seal is just for the top and sides of the cover. Any good tips on how to get this thing on and have least chance of leaks since that's why I'm changing it now. Thanks.

put a little rtv in the corners, and use a cover alignment tool if you plan on keeping the car

Ok thanks. So leave the bottom seal alone just reuse it and put rtv in the corners. No rtv with the regular seal right? Yeah I'm gonna order an alignment tool now. I doubt any store will have them right?

The tool centers it on the crankshaft. I used a finely graduated six inch metal rule to do this but the tool is much easier as centering it requires some compression of the pan gasket so its a bit tedious without the tool.

Not sure how the Sac City tool works, it might require the seal to be out for cover installation so don't install the new seal until you find out. The new seal usually presses in with your fingers so installation is simple.

That is correct. The SacCity tool "locates" on the indentation where the seal presses into.
