Hey guys, about 3 days ago on my way to the drag strip I accidentally inserted my Subaru Outback key into my 2000 Corvette, and then the cars security light started flashing only while the door was open, and the key wouldn't turn, even into the acccesory position. After about 10 minutes, it randomly stopped and allowed me to turn and the car started and ran fine after that. 13.6 is what it did on the 1/4 mile for those wondering. Buuuut, before work today I accidentally did the same thing and tried to turn and waited 20 minutes, to no avail, and had to take my Mustang to work. After my 8 hour shift, I come home, and now it would appear the battery is dead. Does the battery go into a reserve mode or something once security has been active X amount of time? How do I get around this? Is the ignition switch just jammed? Help!

There are a couple of rollers inside the ignition switch that make contact with the pellet on the key. You may have jammed or damaged those rollers by inserting the wrong key. Maybe try getting some graphite or contact cleaner in there to see if that frees the rollers up.
VATS has nothing to do with killing the battery. How do you know the battery was dead?? You need to actually read the voltage at the battery terminals with a meter AND load test it if you suspect that it really is dead.
Can you raise and turn on the head lights??
I recommend reading the DTCs using the DIC Code reader and see if you have any VATS/Security related DTCs.
If you have a VATS issue, it WILL point you in the correct direction.
