I up-graded the 02 ZO6 with a KIRBAN Shifter and absolutely love it!! The KIRBAN has additional shifter centering springs inside the shifter body and a more positive shift feel.
We purchased a new 2011 Grand Sport and my intentions were to,, without haste, replace the shifter ASAP!
After driving the C6, the improved shifter wasn't all that bad and to this date, the grand sport has an OEM Shifter. That being said, the car is all stock and my Wife drives it 90% of the time. She likes the shift feel and shift quality.
I drive my highly modded 02 ZO6 hard and I like the technical shift feel of the KIRBAN.
REMEMBER! There are TWO types of C5/C6 AFTERMARKET Shifters. Ones like the OEM without any additional shifter centering springs and ones Like the KIRBAN & MGW with additional centering springs inside the body of the shifter.
Some people DO NOT like the added LEFT / RIGHT force needed to move the shift lever between the 1st/2nd & 5th/6th & Reverse gates.
HOWEVER,,,,,,, The additional centering force will HELP prevent accidentally hitting SECOND Gear when you really wanted to grab FORTH GEAR!
The engine and drivetrain DOES NOT LIKE THAT!

$$$$$$$$$$$Kirban Shifter VS OEM:

I personally have the MGW and it is a work of art design, craftsmanship, and functionality.
I had tried the Hinson shifter but I found the shifts to be so short that I sometime couldn't tell if I was in gear or not.
I vote for the MGW shifter.
Had MGW, while an improvement over stock, with much firmer and precise shifts, I did NOT like the amount of force it required to move side-to-side between the shift gates. It gave my arm quiet a workout
Now have a factory C6Z shifter and love it. Good balance between the two.

I'm still planning to try another shifter though as this C6 shifter isn't quite as short throw as I want. I find 3rd a bit elusive sometimes on fast shifts.
Anti venom mod is adding 1 or 2 shims to the shifter detent on the trans itself to lower the resistance of shifting the gears.
