Engine Swap/Tech 2
Number one, I'm in Lincoln, NE, and finding a Tech 2 is damn near impossible. The places I've talked to that have one won't shut off the F45 on my 99 b/c it's a factory suspension deal. It's a safety issue they tell me. The previous owner put non F45 shocks on the car and bought the modules to "trick" the computer. Ultimately, I want to put the Z06 struts and sway bars on, but right now I just want to replace the F45 panel with a panel that doesn't have a dial that serves no purpose.
Okay, that was more words than I wanted.
Number two, the engine has >180,000 miles and has a cracked block that has been repaired with JBWeld. I didn't know about the crack when I bought it, but I knew it would be a project car. The next major part of the project is replacing the engine. I'd love to put an LS1 in it, but crates for that are damn near impossible to find. Anyone know anything about TurnKey Engine Supply or Powertrain direct? I've never done an engine swap, but I have a buddy who owns a garage and has done swaps. I'm just trying to figure out which way to go.
Any feedback helps. Yes, I'm a bit green.
Thanks in advance!
