I've used amsoil severe gear since I bought my car, never used any additive and never had an issue... try it without and if you hear noise add a little at a time... you don't want too much additive in there or it could cause the clutches to slip when they shouldn't be slipping

After buying the GM additive I read on the bottles that most have it included already - but that adding more won't hurt....
Yes, you can buy gear oil with limited slip additive already added. Most guys like to use gear oil without it so they can add the amount that works best for their application.
DO NOT ADD MORE THAN THE differential wants!! IN THIS CASE MORE IS NOT BETTER.
Most people use a GL-5 lube with the additive already in it. If you do some very tight figure eight turns in an empty parking lot and you don't get any limited clutch chatter,,, LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!
If you get differential limited slip clutch chatter, add just a LITLE more of the additive and go back out and test.
