98 fuel pump (return line)

98 fuel pump (return line)
Can someone help me identify which line is the return on the fuel pump? From what I saw in the book, it looked like it was the middle line. I want to drain the tank and was told to disconnect the return line to drain it. Thanks.

Just go to the drivers side fuel RAIL and on the front of that rail is a Schrader valve. Remove the small valve from the inside of that fitting (with a tire valve tool) and run a line from the fitting to a gas can.
Remove the fuel pump relay and jumper the hot and pump 12+ pins to run the tank pump.

if its like on a 99, then the small line (5/16) is the return line. the bottom (black) line is from the pump and i would use that. or, even simpler, disconnect the braided line at the firewall and put a hose on the male nipple.

Thanks for the replies! I ended up draining from the top line. I have FAST fuel rails and did not have much gas pressure coming from the rail when I disconnected it. that is why I drained the tank.
