Default Code P0108 after changing oil press. sender

My OPS was not working and was also leaking. After checking the alternatives, I decided to remove the intake manifold. Indeed, there was a small puddle of oil around the base of the sensor.

It was pretty straightforward, but time consuming. After putting it back together, it was great to see the 40-60 psi indication again.

But now I'm seeing P0108, MAP code. Pisser. Well, to check my work, I took the manifold off again and went ahead and put in a new MAP sensor.

Well, back together again and still P0108. Need some help here. Did I break the connection? There was a small vacuum hose going to a fitting at the back of the intake. I made an extension so that I could get the thing back together. It looked fine when I had it back apart.

Anyone else have this before?

There is also a hard plastic line back there that goes into
the cabin/firewall that need vacuum from the intake..'Check it.
Also, make sure the rubber "grommet" thingy is correct too.
If you have a good leak, it could come up as a map problem.
Also really check the electrical connector at MAP itself and further down the
wiring.. You could have pinched it or something during install

Hi Foggy,
Yeah, I noticed the small tubing back there. It was barely long enough to reach the rubber fitting at the back of the manifold. No way I could re-connect that when I was going to put things back together. I did pull on it lightly and it seemed to be firmly attached. I got a straight through fitting and some more tubing and made an extension for it.

Can't be the MAP sensor. Either vacuum leak or bad connections. Bitch that this is all in an nearly inaccessible location at the back of the engine.

Hi Foggy,
Where does that large hose on the back of the manifold go? Maybe I accidentally pulled out the other end.

Thanks, oelarse.

I've driven the car and the brakes are fine. My next step will be to block off the HVAC tubing to make sure that isn't a source of the leak.

I did inspect the wiring to the MAP sensor. It looked good, and there is enough service loop to disconnect the connector when the manifold is moved forward slightly.

OK, ham fisted mechanic (me). One of the wires was broken on the connector to the MAP sensor. Now what to do?

I found the matching pigtail for the connector on the AC Delco site (PT1799) and ordered the pigtail on Amazon. (Didn't really want to try to pull the connector pin out and try to fuss with that.) When the pigtail comes I'll solder it onto the wires (and leave a little more of a service loop!).

Checked the vacuum line to the HVAC (blowing and sucking) - all OK.
