Looking for a quick understanding on shaving heads to increase compression. Planning on buying a set of TF215's and would like to shave to up compression. Questions would be on head gaskets, do you need to use a different type and why and does it change the geometry between the head and the intake after shaving.
Thx
I'm running TEA TFS 215's, as far as the head gaskets running a thinner gasket like an .040 will help with quench which will allow higher compression without detonation
When i did a head swap I was told by Texas Speed to use the graphite head gaskets when NOT surfacing the block--as they are more forgiving---using aftermarket MLS steel gaskets are best only used when both the heads and block have been tr-surfaced-----
If you live in a stat like calif that only has 91 oct premium I would not get the compression higher than 10.5-1 In states with 93 oct fuel you can go somewhat higher on pump gas but not much more---There are several online sites that can figure out your exact compression ratio by inputting your head combustion chamber CC's--- your deck height- your gasket compressed height and your piston minus or plus CC volume--A flat top piston has a CC volume of "0"---
