Seized Water Pump

The water pump on my 1999 with 70k miles has seized up. You can turn it about 355 degrees then its just stuck and have not been able to force it thru the full 360. When it happened it also affected the harmonic balancer which now has quite a wobble. Is this a very common problem? It was an aftermarket pump. Replaced with another aftermarket pump before I discovered the balancer problem. Should I have upgraded the pump rather than just an OE quality replacement. Haven't replaced the balancer yet.

I have not tried an aftermarket water pump as for the balancer they all do that sooner or later

You are putting undo wear on all of your accessories due to the bad balancer
Get that thing replaced before you do lots more damage..
Any name brand replacement pump should be just fine

A standard replacement pump will be fine. Just get a Powerbond/DAYCO balancer.
