Default TCP codes

I have a 2001 coupe with a newly installed ls3 crate ( less than 600 miles) I just changed the oil and filter. I ran it to the car wash and upon leaving the car wash, the dic posted: REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING. the check engine light came on and the traction control icon were on. I " limped" her home figured something got wet so let her dry out over night. I did NOT wash the engine bay. This morning same problem ran dic diagnostics got the following codes: P1120, P1220, P1221 and P1516 the reduced engine power and service active handling prompts are still on as well as the check engine and traction control lights. HELP!!

All of the codes you got were from a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) problem. They might or might not be related to the car wash. Simply clear all those codes and see if the problem goes away. Since you've put in an LS3, did you use a LS3 or LS2 TB or are you still using the original LS1 TB? Hint: when the TPS throws a code it sets the Check Engine Light, Traction Control lights, etc. Clear all the codes and then see if you're good to go.

I also just noticed that you're very new here. If you don't know how to read, check and clear your codes, here's how.

Thanks for the reply, the TB was also changed with the swap. I have let the car out today very sunny with the hood up. I have attempted to clear the codes 3-4 times no good, still persists. She starts right up, seems like everything is OK then it starts revving up around three grand and will hold there and there's no response when I depress the accelerator. I haven't let it run for more than a minute this way. I am pretty frustrated with this as it was just fine until I rinsed it at the wash . I have never had a problem before..

It is not clear to me whether the TPS is an LS3 or an LS1 TPS. Making an LS3 TPS work requires some rewiring off the system and there is a lengthy post on how to do that:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...y-on-a-c5.html

Otherwise, here is something where Bill Curlee shows how to do some diagnosis on a problem with similar codes-

You'll notice I asked which TB you were using in my first reply to you. If your crate motor came with an LS3 TB, you may need to swap it for an LS2 TB. Easy way to tell is look at the throttle body blade. Gold blade = bad, silver blade = good. Many threads about this. Who did the install of the crate motor? Obviously, it takes some know how to get the LS3 working properly in a C5. The stock reluctor wheel on an LS3 is 58 tooth and you have to replace with a 24 tooth or you have to install a 58 to 24 converter box from Lingenfelter. It isn't an exact swap out. I know as I also have an LS3 in my 98. A little bit more info is needed.

I had a very reputable shop do the work all the above was done correctly and then tuned no problems what so ever. I am very convinced that something has gotten wet and that's what I need to find out. The shop is about 60 miles away and I don't want to have it towed back unnecessarily. The owner is trying to help me with the problem now.

OP hasn't been here since 2017.
Door accordion is a common source of similar issues.
