manual transmission fluid change
any recommendations on whether to change or not to change the trans fluid in my 2004 Z06 that has 18 K miles and as far as I can tell the trans fluid has never been changes.

Be careful when using some of the available hand pumps, some have removable tips in the end of the hose that most put into the fill hole, I’ve read where people have lost these when removing the hose only to have to deal with the nightmare of trying to fish it out.
I change my fluids more than most and every time the fluid looks like the day it was put in.

T-56 MN6/MN12 takes 4 qts but you will only to be able to get 3.75 qts out and back in.
Changed mine out in the 02Z and it made a difference in shift smoothness.
The 30,000 mile fluid looks dirty.
The 50,000 mile fluid in my 98 Coupe was NASTY and I was having some synchro grinding when shifting under power. The new fluid fixed that issue.
Get a good synthetic ATF like the AMSOIL TD

I went ahead and had it done at dealer along with other preventive checks & fluid changes just for the piece of mind. Like most said.....because of AGE.......
