Changing Filter in Vararam Intake
So I bought my 1998 C5 2 weeks ago. I'm slowly going throught everything and thought I'd check the air filter....
This seems like it would be straight forward, but I'm stumped. Is there a trick to removing the filter out of the Vararam intake?
I see it has the 2 rubber clips on the sides. Do I need to disconnect the top part from the air-bridge as well? Otherwise there isn't really room to open it...
You can, but don't necessarily have to. It will give more room and make things easier though, not much to it. It should be flexible enough to pop the clips and lift it up as well. The filter is two inches thick at most, so you don't need much room to wiggle it out. They do tend to kinda stick in place, but it should come loose pretty easy.
Unless they did what I had to do when I ran a Vararam. I had the K&N filter and used RTV to glue it to the cover. It was the only way to keep dirt out of the motor. I used to remove the entire cover and clean the filter in place.
