when replacing the body control module does it need to be programed or is it plug and play

It is NOT a plug and play! There is an EMERGENCY SYNC procedure that will allow you to replace the BCM (say if you were stranded on the road)
1. Turn on the key for 11 minutes.
2 Turn off the key for 30 seconds.
3. Repeat 1&2 two more times.
4. Turn on the key for 30 seconds.
It will NOT have any factory options available but it will allow you to drive the car:
