If your battery gets a little low then the Tech2 will start having problems.
The Tech2 itself can be a bit of a drain. If your key is on then you have day time running lights and accessories being powered as well.
It is better to have a battery charger connected and start with a full charge.
Try the self check with the Tech2 not connected to the car's OBD2 port using the AC adapter.
You can buy parts/ cables probably cheaper than the return shipping.
Or simply ask the seller to send you the part you need.
Ali express and eBay have parts.
Just got my Tech 2 knock off. Everything seems to work just fine as far as setting up the tech 2, but when I try to connect it to my car, I get
this message:
no communications with vehicle
check diagnostic link connector
check ignition <off/on>
I have my key in the on position but not running, cable connection appears to be correct
I must be missing something, any suggestions?
Mike
As soon as you said "knock off" it made me remember a great article on buying them on ebay. Many of them are just bad from the get go.

I agree with Rob, I’d be looking for parts to repair it before sending it back. I got mine for $200 shipped and wouldn’t like to know how much it would cost to ship it back from the US but assume it would be at least half of what I paid. I’m in the Bahamas so I know it’s over the $200 price tag I paid for it for return shipping. You might just have a bad loop back cable.
Yea we had a few close calls but made it through pretty well this year. I have a place in FL too and got lucky with Irma, I really thought FL was going to be a disaster zone with that one.
I hope this coming year is better.
