Unconventional seat rock
Over the weekend I fixed the classic sliding seat track issue that the power seats get. I bought this kit because my driver's seat also has a slight front to back twisting sort of rock...think of an actual rocking chair motion.
I read this rocking was usually a broken bracket on the back of the rails, but all of my brackets were completely intact. (which really burns since I spent about $120 on 2 of these kits) It feels like there's some play in something on the front of the seat between the rail and the seat itself, but I can't figure out what it is. I had the whole thing apart, and nothing looked broken.

Usually any play in the seat is due to the rubber bushings wearing/degrading in the seat track blocks. Your link doesn't work so I'm not sure which kit you bought. The C5 seats do freely tilt forward and back a couple inches even when the handle is resting, maybe there is nothing wrong?

This kit. The rubber bushings have been replaced, and it's no longer sliding. I'm aware the seat BACK can tilt around a bit, but I don't feel like the bottom part of the seat should move.

It sounds like you have a different problem than most of us have.
If so it would be hard to diagnose with the information you have given.
Something is loose and you have to find out where. It may be a loose bolt that holds the seat frame to the seat.

Yeah, I figured the description would be next to useless. There are a lot of moving parts down there. There are only 4 bolts that tighten the seat frame to the rail, and I made sure to get all of those good and tight. I feel like it has something to do with the little arms that adjust the seat height (which is also where the seat frame bolts on). The front left arm turned a lot more easily than the left, though it didn't seem to have any slop like one of the hinge holes had gotten reamed out or something.

If that's the case, I'll just let it go. It's only slightly annoying compared to the worn out bushings that made you feel like you were about to fly into the windshield with the seat on a hard stop.
I did notice when I had the whole thing apart, that one side of the rail seemed a bit floppy. The play seemed to be in the circled areas where those tubular cross pieces attached to the rails. The passenger seat rails didn't seem to have this play in them.

Ive had the same feeling since I replaced my bushings a couple months ago! I keep forgetting about it when I'm not driving, but its felt to me like I need to torque the front bolts down better.

Yeah, that's what it feels like. I know I torqued them down really well though.

Those crossbars rotate I think. This is what works the seat height adjustment. I imagine there's some worn out bearing or metal bushing inside those circled areas in the picture I attached above. Maybe DetroitPlac could take a look at his power track since it's out of his car currently?

I actually have a set of the REAR mounting ears since I thought that was the issue. Apparently it's common for the rears to snap since they're aluminum, and they take a lot of impact when we plop our fat asses into them. There's no replacement bushing or bearing in them though. It's just a hole.

I contacted C&S Corvettes, the maker of the repair kit I bought, and they suggested the plastic clevises on the seat height adjusters are worn out, which allows some play in the seat height adjustment (which seems consistent with how it feels). I do recall them looking a bit distorted when I had it all apart. Parts aren't exactly cheap though.

C5 Sport Seat wiring, Repairs, foam & Skins
Hi its Mule. My problem was a driver seat connector missing and rocking a 1/4 inch to front to back. I had the orig. connector it was shot cause the top leaked for a year while going thru repair shops. Then Forum convinced me to self repair. It stopped. The seat? I struggled with this problem for 3 years. 2 Chevy Dealers, the upolsterer who had the seat out to replace the foams at 50K miles electrical experts would not look at it. I wrote about it months ago. After watching C&S Corvette videos i called them and asked them if they can fix the driver seat. Shocked i was told yes we can do that in an hour or 2. I’m in Delray Beach FL. they are in Sarasota FL. About 200 miles. Made an appnt. By 10 Ray shows me SCM power wire broken off while checking every connection. Insisting the original connectors and wires gauge and color matched Lyle drove to a parts warehouse now it has original connectors cleaned, soldered & wires routed 3 hrs including theyre anti rock kit installed making sure every part screw, trim,& nut was factory. The seat moving now. Know what its like to foot the firewall lean back and drive. Comfort. C&S has it right now for seat covers and foam. They are supplying the foam backs. The bottoms are from DJ Motorsports super dense foam. Covers my kids got me? C&S Approved. This is 3/11/18. Man at 120K new seats! That work man! C&S Corvette Sarasota. Check out there web site and there own manufactured seat improved parts that break if your over 250. I’m 170 my seat bottoms and Clovis look good but i lift my *** off the seat when i move it.. I’ll shut up now hope this gets to Vet owners with seat driveshaft and harmonic balancer repairs needed by an honest shop.
