Default Tires

I have a 2003 Z06 with 5,700 miles on it. It has the original Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on it. They look like new, but after 14 years, I'm thinking it might be time to replace them even though it is not driven that much. Any suggestions for replacement?

Thanks,

Brian

I have the new Continental Extreme Contact Sports on my 02Z. I've got about 8k mikes on em now and highly recommended them, great tire. 275/40-17 front and 295/35-18 rear.

Can you post a pic or two?

I want to see what the 275 looks like on the front. I think the 265/40 is a bit tall compared to (the apparently shorter) 295/35

Thanks ahead

I installed the Toyo Proxes T1 Sports over the summer. They have them in the correct Z06 sizes. I really like them and they have gotten good reviews on the Z06 forum as well.

The 275 is a little wider and taller than the 265, but it also fits the factory 9.5" rim better.

Agreed. They are much better than the Bridgestone re760's

The 265/35 will give you the correct profile using it with the 295/35 in the rear.

You should visit the tirerack website and look at the tire diameters. There is some variations in diameter and width between manufacturers. The Michelin PS2 is a vary popular tire for the Z with the front being 23.1" diameter front and 26.1" Diameter rear. Many elect to run the 275/40x17 front tire at 25.6" diameter because there is a wider selection of tires to choose from. The difference of 0.5" is enough to keep all the TC/AH parameters in synch to keep the car happy. While many have run the different size diameters, keeping the diameter difference between 0.5 to 1.1" keeps all the active handling and traction control pids happy. However, you will have a slight change in the speed shown on your speedometer with different diameters.
