In 2014 I purchased my 2000 corvette. The odometer read 107xxx but the title read 125xxx. He said that he had lost the title that was issued when he got the car 10 years prior. It was in fact a duplicate title that was printed only 3 days prior. He said that he messed up at the dmv and that was the mileage of his other car sitting in the driveway which he showed me and I belived him due to the immaculate condition of the car so I wasn't worried about the mileage discrepancy. Now, almost 4 years later with only 108xxx sitting on the clock, how can I prove the 108xx is correct. I have never titled the car in my name. When I rarely drive it, I put my buddies dealer plate on it. I feel that I should title it in my name and pay the state tax before I sell it. I'm in the market for a c6z06, but I have to sell this one first. Where is the mileage stored? Any help would be great, thanks in advance, Dave

The odometer mileage is contained on a memory IC Chip inside the IPC on the mother board. There are ZERO ways to actually change the mileage numbers in the chip unless you have very special repair facility equipment and software.
You can however find a USED IPC with closer mileage and swap out IPCs or just swap chips.

So I guess it's not possible to prove that the odometer is correct and this was human error, not someone being "shadey"?
I don't think that you have any way to know how many miles are on the car. It could be 108K, 126K or many more than that. You just don't know what previous owners/dealers/used car lots did to the car and or title.
