I recently purchased a 2002 Corvette that has a 12 CD changer in the trunk. It does not eject the cartridge when the door is opened. Any suggestions short of taking it apart?

Is it properly plugged into the connector in the rear and in the front passengers foot well? Check that first. Cycle the door OPEN SHUT several times and try to select the CD played on the head unit several times.
Also, Are you sure there is an empty cartridge in the unit? If yes, then LIGHTLY tap the side of the unit with a small hammer while opening and closing the door lid. I had a cartridge stuck and using the light tap worked for me.
I unbolted it from the bracket, held it upside down and shook it while opening the door. The cartridge came out. It seems like it wasn't meant to be mounted at that sort of an angle and one of the trays must get caught in it. It's been fine since, but I'm sure it'll happen again.
