Default Tips for proper Torque Tube Maintenance?

Hey all, I’m getting ready to do a Rear Main Seal job, and I figured while I have the Torque Tube and Transmission out now is the time to do some maintenance. Does anybody have any advice on what should be replaced while I have it out? The car is an Automatic. Thanks!

^^^ mileage would be a good factor.

The only thing you can really service is the bushings & couplers and check for any obvious signs of damage on the tube. Also supposedly automatics do not see the same level of wear on the bushings as do manuals so depending on the mileage you likely will not see any noticeable wear. It's believed that the more direct flywheel and clutch interface put more shock into the driveline with use.

Any wear that does exist on the bushings and couplers should be noticeable.

It has 145K on it, and there are 2 Couplers on it, right?

Yes and at that mileage you'd be silly NOT to replace them while you have every thing apart

The Dorman Couplers are that bad, eh? It seems to be impossible to find a direct GM-made Coupler for the pre-01 C5s... anybody have a link to find some for a reasonable price?

Inspect the bearings while it's out.

I'd just put new bearings in regardless. I did mine along with the couplers at 135k.
