Yep, that hole in the adaptor.
I found this as I was doing some under hood cleaning. WTH - it looks like that rib was hit with a grinder or something. I guess it was there when I bought the car in Dec. I just don't see what could have caused that. For the time being, I plugged the hole with a dab of roofing tar. It hardened ok. The car was running OK. I hope this quick fix will hold until I can buy a new adaptor.

That's a strange spot to have a gash, maybe from a flathead screwdriver or something. Anyway, sounds like you are back in business with that fix.
