Not all things are beautiful and there will be some negative thoughts. Not all vendors are good ones and I for one would like to know about them. I certainly hope that not everything will be filtered out. Some times people get cought up in the hipe and follow paths that are dangerous to themselves and others and both sides of the story can help govern that.
I joined, read and post on this forum to see whats going on in the world of Corvette prformance, specifically drag racing ............ Why is it that every time I check this section of the site that the #1 topic is this negative post ?
The East Coast has always been known for it's competative stance, but unfortunately the internet has been a vehicle for more BS and poor attitudes that I can stand. Thats not what I log in for on this site for.
In closing, please lock this thread..... Competition is good, poor sportsmanship is bad and giving the nay sayer's a soap box to stand on is worse. I'm personally sick of it. :U
Race your race, shine your ride, cruise your Sundays ..... whatever, just shut already and enjoy your car ..................
RPM Frank, right you are, now if I can only keep my cool after 5 fuel guage sending units having to be replaced along with a colume lock and throw in a few warped rotors. One could be a bit negative with that and if it's not discussed it won't go away. Or the statement that it's impossible to ingest water with a bottom breather and all the tests prove it. Yet $11,500.00 later that was not the case and those unchallenged experts disapeared. I think there was a great saying from the movie Bridges of Madison County about living in a head with tinker bell and the tooth fairy.
I applaud the stance being taken by Troy and the moderators. It is possible to debate vigorously and disagree entirely, without being disagreeable. Usually the volume and attack levels rise in direct proportion to the weakness of the argument being made. Civility doesn't have to be a goal...it should be the only acceptable standard. I'm glad to see it will be.
I'm for keeping everything upbeat and positive. I come to the forum to relax and get helpful info. If people are having a bad day, or problems with someone else I really don't want to hear about it!
I'm kinda lost. I don't own a corvette and was only brought to the sight because we were getting tons of click-in traffic from your sight. The thing is I work for a Ford tuning company. I thought it was odd so I came to check it out. What I found was that people were discusssing a video of one of our Racing mustangs blowing a stock vette off the road. Big difference between the two cars, not really a fair fight. If as much money went into the vette as went into the mustang, it would have been much more entertaining.
No big deal, I think I cleared it up on the thread in question.
I'll will say though, this is one of the most polite and intelligent forums I have ever been too. I've been back to read unrelated posts and learn from it over 20 times in the last couple days. It's amazing to me. Most 1-make auto forums are just a lot of people trash talking various manufacturers and each other. Like a 10 year old pissing contest. Not this place though. I really like it.
Which brings me to my point. My first car was a corvette. A 1982 Crossfire injected POS. I mean that. I bought it for $2900. That should speak volumes for it's condition. At any rate I really enjoyed it, driving it in southern Michigan snow and freezing rain and northern indiana dirt roads. I had it for a year and sold it for what I had in it. Great car. I'd lost interest in the 'vettes untill... about a day ago.
I'm pretty clueless now when it comes to vette tuning. The new C5's are really slick and now some of the used ones are starting to fall into my price range. Over here, when setting up suspensions, we change everything on the mustangs. We change the wheelbase, the weight distribution, the pickup points, the materials, everything when we tune them. Is that how the corvette tuners are doing it too?
I have questions like:
How far do you lower them (If at all) before it starts hurting the geometry?
What size rims/tires can be cleared in the wells?
Do they use K-members up front? And if they do, do the tuners make a lightweight tubular model?
Stuff like that. This probably isn't the thread to ask this stuff, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be cool.
Ok Will, when you started your reply on the Rustang beeting the Vette I had a fire in my eye's that would light up Chicago, but then you turned into a gentelmen on us and left me with nowhere to go, Damn, I really had some choice words for ya too.
Anyway, thanks for the comments on this being a civil site, and I'm sure everyone will appreciate that. As per you questions on the K-frame, the Vette doesnt have one, lowering hurts the car in all facets, especially straight line performance.
Suspension changes as you asked of wheel base and suspension points on the C5 are impossible due to the rear mounted trans. This does make it far more difficult for a C5 to hook, but ya gotta give these tuners like East Coast, Vette Doctors and Cartek credit for doing what they do and believe me that these guy's have loads more up thier sleeve's.
How do you verify fact from fiction? I have read many post's that where truly honest bickering amongst people that know each other that where halted or misunderstood as threats or instagation. How do you make this judgement call?
I know that I can speak for the majority of the other members and say that this forum has been a great extension of owning a Corvette. Many friends have been made and much information shared. However when mixing cars and testosterone you will always get some controversy. Thats life!
Maybe we need a new area of the forum for the hard core, hold nothing back , lay it on the line people!

With all due respect, a "no-holds barred" forum is the last thing that any good forum needs. People have a few nasty habits of going further, meaner, crueler, crazier than the last person. Its recognized behavior. It precedes every bar fight and stalking case I've ever been seen.
I think the "Golden Rule" is the simplest and best way to explain.
Fact or fiction...doesn't matter. Try and remember that this is a free forum for us members. We pay nothing and get a heck of a lot. There are some "wide open" places on the net...but they are usually pay services. If they're not, they usually wind up getting in trouble when someone crosses a line and the authorities get involved.
Just my .02. I've flirted with the line here and apologized if my rant went over the top...there are a lot of people that lose themselves in the moment..that's why we have moderators.
It seems that sometimes
the moderators jump
in a bit prematurely.
Sometime's people
who act or post in a
dishonest manor should
be made an example of.
If someone has a bad
experience or get's ripped
off,I want to know about
it.

i've been reading stuff on here for a year or so and haven't once seen anything anywhere near the immaturity of the cougar forums. i quit assosciating with cougar owners all together due to the fact that most of them want a forum like this just so they can belong to a group instead of really showing appreciation for their machine.
i like it here cause i hate that spineless politically correct-while-talking-behind -their-back b/s. i expected a much more harsh environment since i don't have my vette (yet) but i guess its nice to be wrong once in a while.
