You Should Know.....

Here’s a recap – although not comprehensive – of behavior that will not be tolerated:
*A “vigilante posse” mentality that pits the devotees of vendors, tuners and products against their rivals.
*The hijacking of threads, particularly those involving products or services offered by vendors.
For example, if someone starts a thread about what great service they got from Xtreme, then a post to the thread about Exit28 or any other vendor would be inappropriate. The supporting vendors understand the principle and you’ll note they don’t jump into another vendor’s threads except occasionally to add their own positive comments.
That doesn’t mean members can’t start a thread asking for advice or opinions on options available on products and services offered by supporting vendors.
Nor does it mean members with unresolved problems with a vendor can’t start a thread to share a factual account of their problem with the vendor after they have made a reasonable effort to resolve the issue off-line.
That is not an invitation to jump in and turn such a thread into a vendor-bashing event or to launch a flame war. Members with positive experiences with the same vendor, however, would not be prohibited from adding their comments so long as they were factual.
Members certainly are encouraged to show loyalty to supporting vendors. It is those vendors who pay for the bandwidth that allows the forum to be a free, fun, interesting and informative place to hang around with others who love Corvettes.
Just think about what you post before you do so. Remember there are real people on the other side of your computer terminal who have feelings and deserve just as much consideration as you.
If you need further guidance on appropriate behavior, think about the “Golden Rule” which as been described as the most concise and general principle of ethics.
The Golden Rule, also known as the ethic of reciprocity, is found in the scriptures of nearly every religion as well as in the writings of many major philosophers.

How do you verify fact from fiction? I have read many post's that where truly honest bickering amongst people that know each other that where halted or misunderstood as threats or instagation. How do you make this judgement call?
I know that I can speak for the majority of the other members and say that this forum has been a great extension of owning a Corvette. Many friends have been made and much information shared. However when mixing cars and testosterone you will always get some controversy. Thats life!
Maybe we need a new area of the forum for the hard core, hold nothing back , lay it on the line people!
Thanks

- use another forum (or direct email) to argue such issues.

- I could not agree more.

Many people use this forum for a way to communicate. Either because of distance from others or for group discussions. If you don't like the topics move to another post. I can understand if vendor bashing or direct instigating gets out of hand that the moderator should step in ( at his discretion) but if someone has something to say to someone they should be prepared to take it back.

The easiest way I can say this is stay out of a thread if you don't have anything nice to say....there will be no warnings, nada, you will be gone, period.....and as for the question about how I make the call, if I have a question I will pose it to the other Mods 1st, if not, I'll pull the trigger.
This is not up for debate, sorry....this is the way it, and again, from seeing some of the posts in this thread, there will be continued fallout.....the warnings have been made
