I recently bought the z06 airlid and filter below as I wanted the car to stay within warranty parameters and not fear water damage and/or hydrolock. But I really like the Donaldson Blackwing. Please provide comments and poll on which air intake is better for a 2002 Coupe with Upgraded airbridge and stock throttle body and intake.

Basically after looking at cheap alternatives to a Donaldson and adding the warranty issue into the mix; I decided to go with a K&N with the air lid completely removed. I wouldn't worry about hydrolock unless you're putting a bottom breather on. Gains from a K&N with no air lid are comparable to a donaldson (going by what other people have said in the past). Need a warranty claim? Just put the air lid back on and you're good to go! Hope this helps! :seeya
Duh, I bought a Blackwing. Anyone that buys a stock style filter steup is leaving HP on the table. A dealer is totally unreasonable to void anything due to a fricking air filter :smash: Oh well, just my ranting, with that logic you would never get mufflers, or a shifter etc.. I try to use a common sense approach to my warranty, if I go back in for engine problems I pull the Hypertech tuning out, clean the rubber from the wheel wells etc. Treat your service writer with respect
If you really want to keep it close to stock, I recommend the Amsoil filter over the K&N. It has better air flow numbers as well as better filtering ability.
The primary thing you are looking for is higher air flow, with the Donaldson, and many others, you get both higher air flow and colder/denser air to the manifold. The advantage of colder/denser air can be significant, but IMHO not as significant as the increased air flow.
I modified my stock cover by drilling about 10 large (1.25in) holes over the surface area fairly evenly. The cost was right, and then added the Amsoil filter (costs about the same or less than the K&N)
