On a 2004 base Corvette how many idler pulleys are there ? Is there only one for the entire serpentine system or more than one ? thanks, Bob

There is also one of each for the AC that is independent of the main serp belt.

]Are the TWO tensioners the same and are ALL the idler pulleys the same part #'s ? I have one idler that is "singing" and the first pulley I changed didn't solve the problem so I now have one spare idler pulley that could possibly be used in another location.

I do not believe they are the same. Certainly the AC idler is different than the engine idler (it's smaller). But I'm almost 100% sure the tensioner pulley is smaller than the idler. Order up a new one.

If you pull the pulley, you can spin it in your fingers. There is no doubt when you have one with a bad bearing. Contrary to popular belief, you can remove the dust cover on the bearing of the idler and shove some grease in to it. That should only be done in a pinch and not considered a proper fix.

I just had all tensioners and pulleys changed out and here's what I bought.
All Dayco
Main Tensioner P/N 89337, A/C Tensioner P/N 89339, pulleys P/N 89007 and 89135.
Pulleys looked the same but had different numbers so I don't know what to say about that.
Good luck!

The tensioner is on the front upper passenger side of the engine. The idler pulley is to the right of and just above the harmonic balancer (viewed from the front and looking at the engine).
I'm planning to remove my alternator this weekend and have it rebuilt. Question is releasing the tension on the belt by moving the tensioner pulley. I watched a video that shows just pushing the 15mm nut towards the driver's side with a socket until the belt can be removed from the alternator pulley. When released, does the tension return? Looks too easy as I've not done a C5 before. TIA to everyone...

Yes, that's all it takes, just make sure the belt is in the pulley groove when you go to install it there's not a lot of play to deal with

Save your old parts, the bearings press in easily and for about $20 you have a new part. The pulley itself almost never fails.
