Default Shock Question/Recommendation

I need to replace all 4 shocks on my 2003 Anniversary C5 (42,000 miles) as they are beginning to leak. The car is equipped with the magnetic ride shocks and I am wondering if others have replaced these with conventional/adjustable shocks. If so, what brand shock have you used, what have been your experiences with them, and finally what have you done with the left behind electrical connections? Have those disconnected wires caused any issues for the car?

In a similar vein, what are the advantages/disadvantages to replacing the shocks with new electro-magnetic shocks? I understand the price differential, but beyond that, what is the benefit or lack of benefits of doing so?

Thank for your comments, suggestions and recommendations.

The resistor or sym method does NOT work for the F55 RPO.

If you do not program out the RPO then the vehicle speed will be limited to 80 MPH and you will have a corresponding error message displayed in the DIC.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I understand that the reprogram will be necessary. However, I was under the impression that it was actually code F45 that had to be deleted as F55 does not appear on the Tech II.

Yeah. Don't waste your money on sims. I have a 2001 coupe with the F45 suspension. I recently swapped the shocks for C6 Z06 shocks and love them. The car handles much better...but I also upgraded the entire suspension at the same time.

What other changes did you make to the suspension? Did you add coil overs or change the springs?

Any suggestions/recommendations as to which brand of shock is best? KYB, Koni, etc?

Are you talking about the AC Delco shocks from the dealer?
