Back in Central FL again, drove from Bucks County PA. On my first day, I noticed something weird with my cruise control. It seems when I hit a rough pavement, it would disengage, at first it engaged again, but for the most part the first leg of the trip was with out cruise, Saturday day 2, Cruised work better, it disengaged four, five times, but was able to engage again. Anyone else have this happen to them? I’m thinking on shocking speed senor connections, undo spray em and re connect.
YEP! You need to read and post the DTCs. Make SURE that you read the DTC/s just after the event and (BEFORE YOU TURN OFF THE IGNITION!) Some DTCs "especially" the ones that deal with the EBTCM, clear them selves when you turn off the ignition.
One very common CRUISE CONTROL FAILURE cause is a miss adjusted BRAKE and or Clutch position switch. If the switch is on the ragged edge of being activated, any bump or touch of the peddle will cause the cruise to disengage. IF, the switch is always open or always closed, it can also set a DTC.
Mine was cutting out - pulling back on the brake pedal worked for a while - then I removed all the "pedal switches" - took them apart - used a nailfile to roughen-up the contacts - shot them with electrical contact cleaner - put them back in and adjusted them - and no more issues. If you disassemble the switches be careful - they are spring-loaded and will fly apart if given a chance (luckily I found all my bits)....
